Therapy for adult survivors

Therapy for adults healing from childhood neglect and abuse. In person in Albuquerque, and online across New Mexico and Colorado.

You may have grown up learning to need very little.

If some of this sounds familiar, you are in the right place. Naming it is often where the work begins.

The competent one

You grew up fast and became the steady one everyone relied on. Somewhere along the way, your own needs stopped feeling real.

Successful, and still empty

From the outside, your life works. Inside there is a flatness, a sense of going through the motions, and a closeness with others that never quite arrives.

Loyal to a story

You tell yourself it was not that bad. Other people had it worse. And yet the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships, your body, and the way you talk to yourself.

Ready, finally

Something has shifted. You want to understand where this comes from, not just manage the symptoms. That readiness is exactly what this work needs.

Slow, careful, and rooted.

Early neglect and abuse live in the body, not only in memory. We work with how the past shows up in you now, gently and at a pace you set. You will never be asked to relive anything before you are ready.

About Charlie

I built this practice around one focus: adults who carried too much, too young, and are ready to set it down.

I am Charlie Miller, a licensed clinical social worker. I have been doing trauma work since 2014, and I am LGBTQ+ affirming. My style is warm and direct, and I will not pretend healing is tidy.

Taking the first step

You do not have to know where to start.

Reaching out is often the hardest part. The first step is small: a free conversation to see whether we are a good fit. No pressure and no commitment.

  2. We talk it through

You share as much or as little as you like, and ask me anything. We decide together whether to keep going.

  3. Your first session

If it feels right, we book a first session, in person or online. Paperwork is handled privately in the client portal.

If you are in crisis, please do not wait for a consultation. Call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) any time, or call 911 in an emergency.
